William
Glen was founded in 1963 by William Snyder and Glen Forbes. The
enterprise began as a decorating studio and candle shop. As time
marched on, so did the product mix. Gifts,
decorative accessories,
housewares, tabletop,
and collectibles
were added to create the premier specialty store that exists today.

In 1985, the William Glen Market was opened to further serve the customer's
needs. It operated successfully with its main focus being deli style service
and take home. That has since evolved into the current deli/cafe/market
structure; a full service market with indoor and outdoor seating.
William
Glen quickly became known for its solid reputation of being able
to provide the goods and services needed by the people of Sacramento.
On display and in stock are over 1,300 china
patterns, 600 stemware
patterns, and 400 flatware
patterns, the best in cookware and small kitchen appliances. The
selection of fine gifts at William Glen made it the natural choice
for wedding gifts, Christmas
gifts and every other gift. The store has been voted by the
readers of Sacramento Magazine as The Best Place to Buy a Special
Gift for 7 years running.
For several years, William Glen Christmas & More
was simply called The William Glen Christmas Shop. It was only open
seasonally and the location
changed from year to year. In 1996, William Glen Christmas & More
was given its new name and a permanent home. Seasonal merchandise
and decorating sales are growing each year as more emphasis is being
placed on these categories in the company's strategic planning and
marketing.
On December 31, 1998, Glen Forbes retired from his position at William Glen,
Inc. The company is owned by Bill and Terry Snyder.
